One hundred fifty thousand closed on a two hundred thousand quota
The quota is 200,000. Closed revenue is 150,000. Commission is 8 percent of closed revenue. A 2,000 bonus pays only when closed revenue reaches the quota.
Sales quota: 25% lower
Change sales quota to 150,000 while keeping the other example values the same.
Sales quota: 25% higher
Change sales quota to 250,000 while keeping the other example values the same.

Quick answer
What does the Sales quota attainment calculate?
What share of the sales quota is closed, and what commission does that produce? This calculator uses sales quota, closed revenue, commission rate, and bonus when quota is met to estimate closed revenue against the quota immediately in your browser.
With the values currently entered, the result is 75% — of the quota. It also shows commission on closed revenue, quota bonus, gap to quota, and pay at this attainment.
How to use the Sales quota attainment
- Replace the example values with your own numbers.
- Review the result and supporting figures as they update automatically.
- Check the formula and assumptions before using the estimate for a decision.
Inputs used
- Sales quota
- Closed revenue
- Commission rate — entered in %
- Bonus when quota is met
Sales quota attainment formula
Attainment = closed revenue ÷ quota. Commission = closed revenue × rate. The bonus is added only when closed revenue reaches the quota.
Assumptions
- SBA tells you to set a sales goal and compare results with it. Attainment uses the quota and the closed revenue you type.
- One rate applies to all closed revenue. Draws, caps, clawbacks, and split credit stay out unless you fold them into these amounts.

Practical guide
Sales quota attainment example and edge cases
SBA tells you to set a sales goal and then see whether the work hit it. Attainment is closed revenue divided by that quota. Commission here is one rate on closed revenue, plus a bonus that pays only when closed revenue reaches the quota.
Example: One hundred fifty thousand closed on a two hundred thousand quota
The quota is 200,000. Closed revenue is 150,000. Commission is 8 percent of closed revenue. A 2,000 bonus pays only when closed revenue reaches the quota.
- Sales quota
- 200,000
- Closed revenue
- 150,000
- Commission rate
- 8 %
- Bonus when quota is met
- 2,000
Calculated result75%of the quota
Attainment is 75 percent. Commission is 12,000. The bonus stays at zero, and 50,000 is still open. Two rates around a threshold are the sales commission calculator.
Example results use the default display profile. The calculator above follows your selected country and units.
How to read the result
- Read attainment first. Then check pay at this attainment. A team can clear a high commission rate and still sit under the quota.
- The bonus is all or nothing at the quota. Revenue above the quota still earns the same commission rate. It does not step into a second rate.
Edge cases worth checking
Returns are still inside closed revenue
Take them out before you type the closed number. Attainment should describe revenue you kept.
The bonus is really a recoverable draw
Leave the draw out of the bonus box. This bonus pays only when the quota is met. A draw that must be earned back is a different plan.
What changes the result most
Sales quota
Use a current amount for sales quota. Include fees or recurring costs that belong in the same figure.
Closed revenue
Use a current amount for closed revenue. Include fees or recurring costs that belong in the same figure.
Commission rate
Test a lower and higher commission rate. A small percentage change can move the final result more than expected.
Try a different scenario
Small changes show whether the answer is stable or sensitive.

Common mistakes
Check sales quota
SBA tells you to set a sales goal and compare results with it. Attainment uses the quota and the closed revenue you type. Make sure this matches the number you enter.
Keep bonus when quota is met consistent
One rate applies to all closed revenue. Draws, caps, clawbacks, and split credit stay out unless you fold them into these amounts. Use the same units and time period throughout the calculation.
Do not rely on one sales quota attainment scenario
Run a cautious case and an optimistic case. The range is often more useful than one exact-looking number.
Use this result well
What share of the sales quota is closed, and what commission does that produce?
It does not replace a quote, contract, accountant, or local employment guidance.
